A blog about shoujo and...lots of related stuff?

The real reason this blog exists is that I can't navigate social media. That's it, that's the full truth. This strange new world of giant sites like tumblr, twitter and whatnot is beyond me, and I can't say that I particularly enjoy it. After many years of trying and failing to be an artist on social media, I gave up. And at some point, as I thought about all the subjects related to shoujo manga and East Asian fantasy that I love, I realised that I still wanted to discuss them...and that I missed the old days of private blogs. So here we are. This blog is going to have sections for my own art and discussions of it, and for dives into subjects related to shoujo manga, light novels, Cnovels, otome games...let's just say that if you like shoujo manga and historical/fantasy stories set in Japan and China, you may find me discussing things on this blog that are of interest to you!

I'm really interested in the history of shoujo manga, and have found there's very little discussion of classic manga in the English sphere. Things like the origins of the genre, the pioneers in the genre, how the art style developed...this all fascinates me. Posts about subjects like this tend to vanish into the aether on modern social media; I'm hoping that a dedicated website will allow them to last longer, and also free me from the burden about worrying over nonsense like 'reblogs' and 'likes'.
