I'm Karmiya

I'm an artist and writer who grew up on a steady diet of shoujo manga, and I have a fascination with both the genre's history and those of many related genres, such as otome games, yuri and yaoi, and Chinese counterparts with similar stylistic inspirations (donghua, manhua, dramas, and Cnovels). I initially decided to start a blog in order to discuss these subjects and show some of my vintage manga; the history of the genre is still a pretty niche area of interest in English anime/manga fandom, sadly, and I really want to be at least some small part of changing that.

As a writer and artist, I create light novels which are inspired by many of the traditions from shoujo manga, featuring illustrations integrated with the prose story in every chapter. I adore Japanese and Chinese historical fantasy, which I grew up reading, and my novels follow suit. Immortals navigating the mortal world, ghosts getting married, and unusual Heian affairs are some of my favourite subjects.

Finally, since I am a private person and would rather not use any images of myself, Wei Bao here (the kitty) will be representing me online! He is the Most Important Character in my first novel (he says so himself, and you must believe him; he's a marquis).
